The MSHS book club is a collaboration between the MSHS Social Studies Department, the school library staff, KCLS, and students. Students will meet at their respective campus during lunch over eight weeks to experience and analyze a nonfiction title tied to their current or upcoming social studies curriculum. This is not intended to take the place of a class or course content. Rather, it is an opportunity for students to create a teen-centered book club experience similar to what they would experience within a traditional book club. Teens are expected to read the book, craft discussion questions, and participate in the conversation. Teens will determine the learning opportunity they want to experience, which will, at minimum, meet standards set by SVSD410 and KCLS policies. In order to facilitate a positive experience, each lunch will be limited to 20 students.
